Polish for a Cause- "Bleu Cruiser" & "Glowing Smardy" by PolishedbyKPT

Hey everyone!
I have some special polish swatches and reviews to share with all of you tonight!

Katherine of PolishedbyKPT created this duo of polishes for a special cause. Pictured on the left is "Bleu Cruiser", a royal blue polish with tiny glass shimmer flakes. On the right, is "Glowing Smardy", a rechargeable glow in the dark polish with various shades of blue glitters in various sizes.

What makes this duo so special, is that these were made in honor of a boy named Nate. He has Spinal Muscular Atrophy with Respiratory Distress Type 1 (SMARD1) which is a neuromuscular condition that causes weak muscles.  SMARD is caused by mutations on the IGHMBP2 gene.  It is a motor neuron disease, meaning there is progressive destruction of cells that control motor function.

And now, on to the swatches and reviews!

First up, "Bleu Cruiser".
I applied two coats over white finished off with a top coat. This polish is super shiny and so amazing in real life! It was so hard to photograph the shimmer without having a huge glare on my nail.
The polish became a little thick as I applied it, so I was careful to paint thin layers so the polish wouldn't bubble up (with air bubbles). Application was smooth, and with the top coat, the finish is all nice and shiny.

you can better see the shimmer in this close-up of the bottle!

The second polish of the duo is called "Glowing Smardy".
Application was nice and smooth, and dried super fast, so I didn't have to wait so long to apply more than one coat.
I used two coats over "Bleu Cruiser" again topped with a top coat.

Glow in the dark photo!
This polish didn't glow as much on my nails, but I think that has to do with my dark base color. I will try to swatch this over white in the future and I will update you all with what happens!

**I will be putting together a videos of these polishes in motion, but as of now, my video editing program is not working. I will update you with when I put together this video.

This duo is set to be released on August 1st and 50% of all sales will go to Nate's medical expenses.

I absolutely love these polishes and they're for a good cause, so I recommend these 100% to all of you! They're a good addition to any polish addict's collection.

Simple Flower Nail Art

Hey everyone! I have another design to share with you that I did when I was in Hawaii.
I never do flower designs, so I thought, "I should start doing more!"
Why not!

So this is a quick, simply design I did using a dotting tool.
I used Zombie Lacquer "Key Lime Colada" as my base. It's holographic!
(check out my review for this polish with more photos here)

Revlon Moon Candy Glitter Placement

Hey everyone!

This is the design I did for the Refinery29 Instagram Nail Art contest for the last challenge...but sadly, I was eliminated in round 3 and didn't make it to round four...

Here are some pictures of the design I did for the challenge...

The lower the sun got in the sky, the more holographic the glitter became!

Out of focus to show the holo..

In the shade the glitters still had a lot of color in them.

And yeah, I'm crying like a baby as I write this...but I will say I had the best time creating all these fun designs with really awesome new Revlon polishes and I'm so happy for getting as far as I did in the competition.

I wouldn't be as upset if one of the contestants designs didn't look exactly like mine (and her description of it)...and if I knew we could use other polishes than just the Moon Candy ones...seems a bit unfair that I didn't know that...eh, I can't really change any of that now, so I will vent no further on my blog.

Thank you for all the support in the contest and the continued support on my blog. Maybe one day my nail obsession will get me somewhere, but for now, it is just a hobby I do to make me happy. It will always be done just to make me happy, to relieve stress, and for fun.

And I would like to thank Refinery29 for being so amazing for choosing me in the first place to take part in this. And Revlon for supplying 30+ polishes for me to use. It was a girls dream to get so much polish delivered to her.

Thank you for reading.

"Island Coast" and "Island Surf" by Island Girl

Hey everyone! Sadly, I'm home from Hawaii, but when I was there I did a few swatches/designs that I didn't have time to post, so I'm doing them now!
Here are some more swatches of some Island Girl polishes I picked up.

Both these Island Girl polishes are very similar. They both are jelly polishes packed with rainbow hex glitters of various sizes, very similar to the glitters in OPI's "Rainbow Connection". Both had similar application, not too thin but not too thick. I did not have to go digging for any glitters.
They both are sheer on their own though, unless you build up using many layers. I didn't wanna do that so I just used a base color that was close to the base color of the Island Girl polish.

The first color I have to show you is from Island Girl called "Island Coast". Just a warning, all Island Girl polishes have very boring names... (in my opinion)...
For this swatch, I used two coats of Island Girl "Island Coast" over Revlon Nail Art Neon "Amped Up".

Next is Island Girl "Island Surf". I used two layers over Revlon Nail Art Neon "Killer-Watt".
This color is so neon that it was hard to look at when I was photographing it!

Refinery29 Instagram Nail Art Competition Week Three

Hey everyone!
It's week three in Refinery29's Instagram Nail Art Competition and I'm still in!

THE CHALLENGE: WHITE-HOT NEON

It’s summer, the time for all-white outfits and brightly colored accents. For this round, we're asking our combatants to create arresting, original all-day/all-night looks using only white and neon with Revlon Nail Art Neon—no pastels, no darks, no earth tones, and no excuses.

"I used most of the Revlon Nail Art Neon collection to create a rainbow gradient and added a swirly design in white over the rainbow. This design is a fun way to be the center of attention at any day or night party."

Here are some pics of the gradient I did under the white design;

It started to rain a lot when I wanted to take this picture! It rained so much that I had to wait until the following day to take the final design pictures...

Neon Rainbow Gradient

Hey everyone!
I did some nail art over my previous Island Girl neon gradient. Not my best, but I love this pattern and it's something I want to try again!
I hope you like them.
